About Apple Springs

Home in Apple SpringsApple Springs Resort Community is on a 500+ acre tract nestled in beautiful Boulder Canyon in the northern Black Hills of South Dakota. It sits almost exactly halfway between Legendary Sturgis and Historic Deadwood on scenic Highway 14A. The property is surrounded by National Forest Property on three sides and is adjacent to the beautiful Boulder Canyon Country Club Golf Course (BCCC).

The BCCC will become an 18-hole course with the addition of nine new holes located on Apple Springs. They are expected to be open in late 2017.

Mike and Mindy Short   Owners

Mike Short Mindy Short

Mike and Mindy Short, who celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary this year, live with their four children in North Texas. Their family have enjoyed taking trips to the Black Hills because of its beauty and entertainment for many years. In 2013, they purchased Apple Springs. Mike says, “The most exciting thing about Apple Springs is to part of building dreams, both for my family and others. I feel the Lord has been preparing me my whole life to successfully make Apple Springs one of the premiere mountain golf communities in the Black Hills.” Together they are also the owners of H2O Clear Solutions. A private but publicly operated, state of the art water and waste water company, providing city like services to the residents.

Sam's Repair & Maintenance, Inc.Sam Fish and his crew have been a wonderful addition to the Apple Springs team.

Sam and his wife, Diane, live in Sturgis. They have one son and two grandchildren.

He oversees and is responsible for several aspects of the day-to-day operations.

Stephanie and her husband, Beau, also live in Sturgis. They have three children, two grown sons and a daughter in 3rd grade. She can be seen helping wherever she is needed and recently started with the marketing aspect of Apple Springs.

Hunter lives in Sturgis and is one of Stephanie’s sons. He is Sam’s right hand man and is helpful in all aspects of the property. In the spring and summertime, they handle the landscaping such as the mowing, trimming, and weed spraying. In the fall and winter, they handle the blowing out of the sprinkler systems, road maintenance, and snow removal. Throughout the year, they handle all general repairs and maintenance and the over-site of the water and sewer systems.

Amanda BumgarnerA native of Illinois, Amanda Bumgarner moved to Oklahoma in 2008 to work in the editing department of a book publishing company. Currently she holds the position of Publications Editor for a nonprofit organization based out of Oklahoma City. She also does freelance editing, operates an online blog, and is an active runner.

Alesha Limbo
Water Meter Readings/Flowers/Consultant

Alesha LimboAlesha Limbo lives in Boulder Canyon with her husband, Brad, and their four children. She takes care of the monthly meter readings for the entire community as well as the install of the water meters in the new builds. In the summertime, she helps with ordering and planting the beautiful flowers throughout Apple Springs. She also assists with some of the landscaping for the main entrance and common areas.
